Loving Yourself Is Vital for Your Healing

 

When we were little children, we adored ourselves. Time was passing by. Someone told us that we couldn’t always get what we wanted. Someone told us we were too short, tall, skinny, or slow.

We started losing the admiration and love we used to have for ourselves. We learnt to please others instead of pleasing ourselves first.

We often must get to a crossroads or get “a wake- up call” to realise that we need to change something to get something much better – to get the best. Something we feel deep inside we deserve.

It is often an illness or an accident that stops us to realise that we must start loving and honour ourselves again to be healthy and happy.

The most powerful exercise that brings back the good feeling and positive emotions about yourself is saying to yourself how much you love yourself. You are perfect. You are unique. You came to this world in your unique body, with your unique skills, talents, and abilities to fulfil your unique mission. That’s how important you are. No exceptions.

Louise Hay’s approach to this subject is phenomenal. She developed a unique method: she taught people to love themselves to heal themselves and to heal their lives. She advises looking in the mirror and saying to yourself, “I love you, (your name). I really, really love you. I love you so much! And I accept you exactly as you are.” Say it loudly and feel it. Say it every day as often and as many times as you can. You will soon regain your self-love, self- acceptance, and self-esteem. You will notice the change, and you will know what is right for you and what is not. You will see that you treat yourself differently and that others treat you differently, too.

Most importantly, you will feel good, and your immune system and your health will improve immensely.

Pay attention to everything in your life: where you live, who you live with, what job you do, who you spend time with, what you do in your free time, what and where you eat, what you wear. Ask yourself if it all pleases you and makes you happy. If the answer is no, change it!
